Gan Opera “Four Dreams in Linchuan" is staged on the evening of March 9th in Beijing. The opera is newly organized by Jiangxi Drama Cultural Arts Center of Nanchang University.

Gan Opera is a form of traditional Chinese theatre which combines music, vocal performance, mime, dance and acrobatics. Gan Opera is famous for its ‘Yiyang’ tune which is one of the four tunes of Chinese opera. The tune originated in Jiangxi of Yiyang was popular in the Ming and Qing dynasties and has been regarded as one of the cultural treasures of China.

Gan Opera is characterized with simple and catchy tune and lyrics, drum rhythm as well as none-orchestral accompaniment. With their elaborate and colorful costumes, performers adhere to a variety of stylistic conventions that help audiences navigate the plot of the production.
