From Feb. 19 to 20, the seaplane force under the North Sea Fleet of the Navy of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) conducts a two-day multi-subject training at sea, which includes subjects like offshore low altitude flight, open-sea reconnaissance, search and rescue.
The seaplanes of the North Sea Fleet can take off and land on rivers, lakes, reservoirs and sea. They have many functions, such as maritime patrol, anti-submarine, rescue at sea, bombing raids and air transport. The seaplanes also play an important role in a number of major military operations and disaster relief.
