Buzzword No.3: Fewer extravagant gifts

Comment: Changing the cult of face in Chinese culture is the key to reducing extravagance in gift giving. Today’s Chinese people should learn from their simple and sincere ancestors in terms of socializing, which can be reflected by such old sayings as “A modest gift, delivered from thousands of miles away, conveys profound goodwill” and “The friendship between men of virtue is light like water, yet affectionate.”


Buzzword N0.4: “Home-going anxious clan”

Many young people consider it necessary to return home to spend the Spring Festival with their families. Be they migrant workers, college students, or white-collar workers, a family reunion at the Spring Festival is something that cannot be missed.

However, some young people find it difficult to return home and communicate with elder relatives, so many of them have become afraid of returning home.

A Web portal recently released a user-generated list of top-10 questions that young people are most afraid of during the Spring Festival holiday. “Are you in a relationship, when will you get married?” ranks first, followed by “What grade did you get on the final examination?” and “How much did you earn last year?”

Comment: Young people are afraid of but also looking forward to returning home. Children should show tolerance and gratitude for parents’ possibly excessive care, and parents should show more respect and patience for the personal lives of their children.
