Ningbo is a seaport city in northeast of Zhejiang Province. It lies south of Hangzhou Bay, facing the East China Sea to the east. It is one of the famous historical and cultural cities in China, with a history dating back to the Hemudu culture in 4,800 B.C. Ningbo was known as a trade city on the Silk Road at least 2,000 years ago and is now one of the three major business centers in Zhejiang.

Ningbo's famous attractions include Dongqian Lake Scenic Site, Zhenhaikou Coastal Defense Relics and Hemudu Culture Relics, an important Neolithic site in south China.
