14.8 C, this November colder than ever! (25)

November has been colder than usual this year, local media reported Thursday.

The average temperature over the first 10 days of November was 14.8 C, about 1.2 C lower than the average for the period over the past 30 years, according to a report in the Oriental Morning Post.

Although the average temperature over the first 10 days was lower than usual, the Shanghai Meteorological Bureau said it remains within a normal range, the report said.

A local weather enthusiast posted on his microblog earlier this week that the average high temperature over the first 10 days in November was the lowest on record over the past 30 years, though he only cited data from one meteorological station in the city, according to the report.

The Shanghai Meteorological Bureau did not dispute the enthusiast, but said that the average high temperature over the first 14 days of the month was not the lowest of the last 30 years.

Kong Chunyan, the bureau's Chief Service Officer, did point out that this November has been the least warm over the last 30 years. "Going back to 1982, the high temperature of this November has been the lowest on record," Kong told the Global Times.

So far this month, the city has experienced one cold front after another, Kong said.

The bureau predicted it would rain on Friday with a high of 15 C and a low of 12 C.
