16:51, March 16, 2012

BEIJING, March 16 (Xinhua) -- China's top meteorological authority said Friday that temperatures in north China will plummet over the weekend amid high winds and snow.

Most northern regions will experience a decrease of 6 to 10 degrees Celsius from Friday to Sunday. In China's northernmost regions, temperatures may fall by as much as 16 degrees Celsius, the National Meteorological Center (NMC) said.

Moderate snows are expected to hit some parts of Inner Mongolia and other areas in northeast China, while rainstorms have been forecast for Heilongjiang province, the NMC said.

South China can also expect some rain over the weekend, the NMC said.
