BRICS summit a key opportunity to promote multilateralism: Iranian president
TEHRAN, Sept. 11 (Xinhua) -- Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said on Friday the upcoming 18th BRICS Summit in India provides an important opportunity to promote multilateralism.
He made the remarks before departing for New Delhi to attend the summit, scheduled for Sept. 12-13, according to a statement published on the website of his office.
Pezeshkian said the summit also provides a "favorable" opportunity for talks with leaders of those "major and influential" countries.
The meeting is an important opportunity to promote economic, trade, industrial and scientific cooperation among member states, he said, noting that BRICS members have "significant" capacities in various areas.
Pezeshkian underlined the need to help countries develop their economic and trade relations while maintaining their independence.
