Hong Kong launches AI training for all

HONG KONG, Aug. 27 (Xinhua) -- The final installment of the launch ceremonies for Hong Kong's artificial intelligence (AI) training for all program was held at the Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC) on Thursday.

The HKPC will help small- and medium-sized companies become more competitive with AI-powered digital transformation.

Noting that over 90 percent of Hong Kong's companies are small- and medium-sized, Sun Dong, secretary for innovation, technology and industry of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) government, said in his speech that the HKPC will focus on equipping employees of these firms with AI skills tailored to real tasks.

The Thursday event followed the launch of two other segments of the AI training for all program. Cyberport seeks to promote AI proficiency among younger students, parents, the elderly and vulnerable groups. The Hong Kong Science Park helps college students and professionals translate AI proficiency into workplace skills.

Under the program, the HKSAR government aims to hold over 200 events with a total attendance of over 50,000 by the end of next year.
