NEW DELHI, July 20 (Xinhua) -- Thousands of youths, mostly university students, carried out a huge protest outside the Indian Parliament in New Delhi on Monday.

The protesters' main demands included strict laws to stop examination paper leaks, particularly of the annual National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) held for admitting students into government and private medical institutions. They also demanded the resignation of federal Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, holding him responsible for the paper leaks.

Notably, the NEET examination paper was leaked earlier this year, after which the examination was re-organized. The NEET examination paper had been leaked in previous years too.

The Delhi Police detained several protesters. They also resorted to firing tear gas shells to disperse the crowds, and also baton-charged the youths.
