Ancient street in Guizhou retains red relics to boost local tourism and villagers' income

An aerial drone photo taken on July 2, 2026 shows tourists visiting the Qiaojie street in Liping County of Qiandongnan Miao and Dong Autonomous Prefecture, southwest China's Guizhou Province. The Qiaojie street, with a history of more than 600 years, is affectionately called "Red Army Street" by the local people as the Central Red Army moved to Liping in 1934 and the Liping Meeting was held here in the same year.
The Liping Meeting, which occurred on Dec. 18, 1934, was the first meeting by the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee during the Long March.
The Qiaojie street now preserves many "red relics" such as the site of the Liping Meeting and the Soviet Bank.
