Hong Kong's population up by 10,200 in 2025
HONG KONG, Feb. 12 (Xinhua) -- Hong Kong's population was provisionally estimated at 7,510,800 by the end of 2025, up 0.1 percent from the previous year, local data showed on Thursday.
The increase of 10,200 people was created between a net inflow of 29,100 residents and a natural decrease of 18,900, according to data from the Census and Statistics Department of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) government.
Births and deaths in 2025 stood at 31,100 and 50,000, respectively, the data showed.
Among the total population at the end of last year, 7,242,400 are usual residents, while 268,400 are mobile residents, according to the data.
Various talent attraction and labor importation schemes have helped offset the impact of the natural population decrease, a spokesperson for the HKSAR government commented on the population uptick.
