8 Naxal rebels killed in India's Chhattisgarh

NEW DELHI, April 2 (Xinhua) -- At least eight Naxal rebels were killed in a fierce gunfight with joint contingents of police and paramilitary troopers Tuesday in the central Indian state of Chhattisgarh, police said.
The gunfight broke out in the forest area of Gangaloor in Bijapur district, about 48 km south of Raipur, the capital city of Chhattisgarh, in a joint search operation by the joint contingents after receiving intelligence information.
Police also recovered arms and ammunition from the gunfight site.
Currently, the rebels are active across the central and eastern parts of India.
