BEIJING, April 10 (Xinhua) -- A Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson said Monday that it is of vital importance to carry out an objective, impartial and professional investigation into the Nord Stream gas pipeline explosions.

Spokesperson Wang Wenbin also said that China supports an early international investigation into the explosions, and hopes that relevant countries will positively respond to the doubts and concerns of the international community and bring the truth to light at an early date.

Wang made the remarks at a regular press conference when responding to reports that the Swedish public prosecutor in charge of the ongoing investigation said the current findings show the explosions most likely, directly or indirectly, involved a state actor.

"We have noted relevant reports, and this once again shows that the Nord Stream pipeline explosions were not a simple incident and what is behind the explosions could be quite complicated," Wang said, adding that it is of vital importance to carry out an objective, impartial and professional investigation into the explosions.

It has been more than half a year since the Nord Stream blasts, Wang said, adding that finding out the truth at an early date and releasing the investigation results bear on the security of global transnational infrastructure and the international rule of law and justice.
