Selcuk Colakoglu, director of the Ankara-based Turkish Center for Asia-Pacific Studies, who has attended some G20 sessions, told People’s Daily Online that as a leading economic and global player, China’s stance is very decisive for global governance and its constructive global stance has also encouraged other countries to support international cooperation and economic globalization.
In Colakoglu’s view, the COVID-19 pandemic has aggravated problems in the world economy and there is no single national solution to dealing with high inflation, unbalanced income distribution, unemployment, and other issues. “As China rightly points out in the G20 Summit, a coordinated global approach to those problems of the world is a must, ”he said, adding that “Developing proper global strategies is needed to boost development, and strengthen cooperation in poverty alleviation, pandemic response, and green development.”

The expert said the Belt and Road Initiative represents common regional development across Asia, Europe, Africa and beyond, “China has also allocated a very generous budget to carry out the BRI-related projects for almost a decade,” he noted.
The Global Development Initiative is also a timely step for global governance in tackling economic downturns, said Colakoglu.
“China has continued to offer concrete solutions to address global issues,” he concluded.
