The Changsha Logistics and Port Office announced on May 7 that, the Changsha Huanghua International Airport Imported Fruits Supervision Site project has been fully completed, and passed the inspection by the General Administration of Customs. This means that the Changsha Huanghua International Airport will become Hunan’s first designated port for imported fruits. The province will no longer need to import fruits via ports elsewhere, and more imported fruits will be delivered directly to Changsha.
The project started in the second half of 2017. Its special area for inspection is located in the center of the Customs Supervision Area on the same floor of the Changsha Huanghua International Airport Air Cargo Terminal Phase I, including a warehouse, a laboratory, an on-site inspection room, and a refrigeration room. There are also sites for unqualified fruits destruction and fumigation treatment. Video monitoring facilities are equipped.
Currently, most of the imported fruits sold in Changsha are transported to Changsha via ports of entry in Shanghai, Guangxi, and Zhengzhou. After the project is put into operation, imported fruits can be directly sent to Changsha. This will greatly reduce the handling procedures and shorten the turnaround time. It is estimated that the price of these fruits will fall by about 10%.
