Li Ping, vice chairman of the CPPCC Changsha Municipal Committee and director of the Changsha Sports Bureau, last week met with a delegation led by Fernando Caceres, director of the General Administration of Sports of the Oriental Republic of Uruguay.
Li welcomed Fernando and his entourage. She said that Changsha has good sports facilities and training environment. In recent years, Changsha has held a series of competitions, such as the International Universities Rowing Race (IURR) and the International Friendly City Football Exchange Competition. Uruguay teams are welcome to participate.
Changsha youth football develops rapidly recently, and Uruguay football is world famous. She hoped that the two sides will have more interactions and cooperation in football programs in the future.
Fernando was deeply impressed with the sports facilities in Changsha. He said that he would like to promote the sports cooperation between Uruguay and Changsha, and send coaches and athletes to Changsha for matches and trainings. He also welcomed Changsha athletes to go to Uruguay for exchanges.
The 2019 China Aided Project to Provide Sports Coaching Services for Uruguay started earlier this month. Uruguay’s national table tennis, badminton, swimming, athletics, gymnastics, judo, taekwondo, and rowing athletes will receive a 90-day training in Hunan.
