In the first two months of 2019, Changsha’s imports and exports totaled about 3.64 billion USD, accounting for 47.9% of Hunan’s total for the same period, up 58.4% over last year, according to the Changsha Bureau of Commerce. The export volume was about 2.56 billion USD, increasing by 87.2%; and, the import volume was 1.08 billion USD, increasing by 16.1%.
Between January and February, enterprises with foreign trade performance in Changsha grew by 218 to 1,472. Seventy-five enterprises’ trade volume exceeded 10 million USD, increasing by 30. The total trade volume of these enterprises reached 2.7 billion USD, taking up 74.3% of the city’s total.
Changsha’s trade with its major trading partners, such as EU and ASEAN countries, saw a rapid increase; and, that with African countries registered faster-than-average growth.
In January and February, the imports and exports of mechanical and electrical, and high-tech products reached 1.84 billion USD, up 41.1%, taking up 48.7% of the city’s total for the same period. The imports and exports of agricultural products reached 190 million USD, up 25.9%, constituting 5% of the city’s total for the same period.
