On February 22, Hu Zhongxiong, deputy secretary of the CPC Changsha Municipal Committee, Changsha mayor, and secretary of the CPC Working Committee of Xiangjiang New Area of Hunan Province, met with Matthew Rous, president of the China-Britain Business Council (CBBC), and his delegation. Vice mayor Qiu Jixing attended.
CBBC is a non-profit economic and trade promotion organization jointly supported by the British Government and the industrial and commercial circles, helping UK companies grow and develop their business with China. Over the past 60 years since its establishment, it has been well received by the Chinese and British governments and enterprises.

Mayor Hu Zhongxiong welcomed Matthew Rous and his entourage. He hoped that, with the aid of CBBC, Changsha and the UK will strengthen practical cooperation and in-depth exchanges in trade, finance, modern service industry, international education and cultural tourism, and accelerate the implementation of major cooperation projects. This will inject vitality into Changsha’s export-oriented economy and high-quality development.
Matthew Rous affirmed the fruitful cooperation between relevant CBBC institutions and enterprises and Changsha in the early stage. He mainly introduced those British enterprises that would like to cooperate with Changsha, and the cooperation projects to be carried out, concerning energy, education, finance, and cultural creativity. He hoped that the two sides will continuously consolidate cooperation mechanism and expand cooperation results.
