Changsha’s foreign trade value in January totaled 16.07 billion yuan, an increase of 95.9% over last year. The Changsha Customs released the data on February 19.
Changsha’s exports in January totaled 11.43 billion yuan, up 128.6% from last year. Exports of mechanical and electrical products grew rapidly, accounting for more than 40%.
In January, Changsha exported 5.19 billion yuan of mechanical and electrical products, and 1.89 billion yuan of high-tech products, up 92.3% and 46.9%, accounting for 45.5% and 16.5% of the total exports respectively. Exports of electrical and electronic products reached 2.2 billion yuan, up 38.6%. Exports of clothing and ceramics multiplied.
Changsha’s imports in January totaled 4.64 billion yuan, an increase of 44.9%. Imports of mechanical and electrical products grew rapidly, and high-tech products increased slightly.
In January, Changsha imported 2.82 billion yuan of mechanical and electrical products, up 55.3%, accounting for 60.7% of the total imports value. Imports of high-tech products grew by 4.5% to 1 billion yuan, constituting 21.5% of the total. Imports of automobiles and dairy products were 770 million yuan and 310 million yuan, an increase of 5.6 times and 62.3% respectively.
Changsha’s foreign trade in January maintained stable and sound growth since 2018. While maintaining rapid growth, its structure continued to be optimized, and the development was accelerated.
This good start can be attributed to increased domestic demand, steady economic growth, and especially the continuous improvement of business environment. As a main body of foreign trade, private enterprises are also one of the main endogenous driving forces for foreign trade growth.
