The Changsha Huanghua International Airport announced on January 16 that, paperless check-in service is available for Changsha-Sydney direct flight. This is China’s first paperless intercontinental flight.

Showing a QR code, passenger can proceed check-in, customs review, IAPI (interactive advanced passenger information) inspection, and re-check at cabin doors. This is the first innovative application of paperless service technology in the whole-process customs clearance for international flight.

In recent years, Changsha airport has taken a series of measures in smart security, operation, and service. These measures streamlined check-in process, facilitate new technology development and application, and raise the airport profile. In August 2017, it took the national lead in launching paperless customs clearance service. In 2018, the number of passengers who checked in through paperless service was twice more than the previous year. Passengers’ travel experience has been greatly improved.

On that day, Skytrax Chairman Edward presented the “4-star airport” plate to the Changsha Huanghua International Airport. It is the fifth Skytrax’s 4-star airport in Chinese mainland and the first in central China, that with an annual passenger capacity of over ten million.

Headquartered in the United Kingdom, Skytrax is an authoritative evaluation and certification institution in the international civil aviation industry. It conducts star ratings for the whole aviation service process of global airports. Four-star rating is the leading level of the industry, and five-star rating is the highest one.
