National authorities are considering listing Kaihui village in northwestern Changsha county, Hunan province as a Traditional Chinese Village due to its rich history, picturesque landscapes, and healthy rural development.
A list of the fifth set of Chinese Traditional Village selections, consisting of a total of 2,646 villages, is available on the Ministry of Housing & Urban-Rural Development's website until Dec 14. If no objections are made during this period, Kaihui will officially become the third village in Changsha county to receive the honor.

There are 14 traditional buildings in the village, including Yang Kaihui's former residence and several national intangible cultural heritage items, such as Kaihui embroidery, a unique style of Hunan embroidery, and the Changsha flower-drum opera.
In recent years, Kaihui village has been carrying out various projects in hopes of developing its economy, particularly the agricultural sector.
The Kaihui General Aviation Airport is currently gearing up for an approaching inspection. Construction on comprehensive youth training centers and the Kaihui service center have been accelerated. The village has also established Kaihui Village Tourism Development Co Ltd. to improve the tourism industry.
