On December 3, the opening ceremony of the Changsha Symphony Orchestra (the Orchestra) was held at the Changsha Concert Hall. The Orchestra was constructed with the joint efforts of the provincial and municipal governments. Cai Zhenhong, CPC Hunan Provincial Committee Standing Committee member and Hunan Publicity Department director; Hu Henghua, CPC Hunan Provincial Committee Standing Committee member and CPC Changsha Municipal Committee secretary; Feng Yi, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and political commissar of the Political Department of Hunan Military Area Command; and Vice-governor Wu Guiying attended.

The Hunan Performance Group and the Changsha Municipal People’s Government signed the Agreement on Provincial-Municipal Joint Construction of the Changsha Symphony Orchestra.

The Changsha Symphony Orchestra was established through the restructuring of the Hunan Symphony Orchestra. After the reform, the Orchestra’s management system and nature remain unchanged. It is still managed by the Hunan Performance Group. It is still the only province-level professional symphony orchestra in Hunan. In the future, the Hunan Performance Group and the Changsha Municipal People’s Government will integrate provincial and municipal resources to jointly build the Orchestra into a shining cultural image card of Hunan and Changsha.

The CPC Changsha Municipal Committee and the Changsha Municipal People’s Government have specified a series of mechanisms, and will take measures to build the Orchestra into a first-class symphony orchestra in China within 5 years. Those measures include offering special funds, and promoting the integration of the Changsha Symphony Orchestra and the Changsha Concert Hall.

The “Changsha Culture Plus” platform was launched at the signing ceremony.

The first concert of the Changsha Symphony Orchestra was staged at the Changsha Concert Hall that evening, presenting splendid performances to the audience.
