On October 23rd, Yunnan Province announced the first 43 superior agricultural products areas. Three superior agricultural products - Pu'er City Menglian Avocado, Mojiang Tea, and Youmeng Beef Cattle were included.

In December 2017, the State Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Agriculture and the State Forestry Administration jointly issued The Outline of the Construction Plan for the Superior Agricultural Products Areas, encouraging local governments to expand and strengthen their superior agricultural industries, to run to be included in superior agricultural products areas (shortened as " Superior Areas"), turning local special products and small varieties into large industries increasing farmers' income.
