On September 19, the Groundbreaking Ceremony of Pu'er Tea Town and Pu'er's Characteristic Towns took place along the Yeya Lake, Simao District. Pu'er Tea Town in Simao District is Pu'er's only national first-class characteristic town. Located in the south of the central urban area of Pu'er, with a total planned area of 2.4 square kilometers and a planned three-year investment of RMB 3.6 billion, the town takes Pu'er tea as its core business. Other characteristic town projects launched concurrently with Pu'er Tea Town Project include Meng'a Town in Menglian, Pu'er Tea Town in Jingmai and Laodabao Country Music Town in Jiujing Village, Lancang County.
