A 32-year-old Chinese woman was killed, and four other Chinese in a family and a Cypriot were injured on Monday evening after a speedboat crashed into rocks off the northwest coast of Cyprus.
The accident happened around 7:00 p.m. local time (1600 GMT) on Monday. The Chinese Embassy in Cyprus said Tuesday morning that these five Chinese aboard the speedboat are from the central Chinese province of Hubei, who have settled in Cyprus.
The injured Chinese family includes a young couple and their boy and girl. The girl in critical condition is undergoing operation in local hospital. The boat's Cypriot operator was also seriously injured in the accident.
It was reported that the injured were collected by marine police and other boats, and were then taken to hospitals.
