The man believed to be responsible for the murder of two Chinese sisters in Japan has been detained, the Japanese media reported on July 16. The Chinese Embassy in Japan has issued a notice reminding its citizens in that country to be more security conscious, Global Times reported.

The older sister Chen Baolan’s boyfriend, a Japanese man in his 30s, is believed to have murdered the two sisters, stuffed their bodies inside suitcases and then dumped them in a mountainous forest near Tokyo.

Surveillance video from the sisters’ apartment showed the man entering on July 6 and leaving the following day carrying suitcases and bags.

The murders have shocked both Chinese and Japanese people given their brutality. Statistics show that four female Chinese students have died in Japan in less than a year, although the country is known as one of the world’s safest.

In response to the development, the Chinese Embassy in Japan has issued another notice reminding its citizens in that country to be more security conscious.

It would be recalled that the Chinese Embassy has issued 12 such notices in last year, given that many Chinese in Japan have been victims of the activities of criminals.
