The reservoir area of Nuozhadu Hydropower Plant is mild and beautiful with green hills and clear waters. The plant is a real green hydropower plant on the Lancang River, which is Yunnan's largest hydropower plant and a national backbone grid-connected project, as well as a basic project under the strategies of "West-East Power Transmission" and "Outward Transfer of Yunnan's Power". The project has a total investment of 31.2 billion yuan, and a total construction period of 11.5 years, including a construction preparation period of 3 years, a main works construction period of 5.5 years and a completion period of 3 years. The first generating units went into operation in 2013 and the project was completed in 2017.
