China presents friendship, openness with symbolic elements

"Panda diplomacy" has again taken the spotlight as the Panda Garden at Zoo Berlin was officially opened on Wednesday.

Meng Meng and Jiao Qing, two pandas from southwest China's Sichuan Province, arrived in Berlin in late June, and soon became a hot topic as anticipation of the Panda Garden's opening grew across the European country. The couple will stay at the zoo for 15 years.

This was not the first time that pandas have been sent overseas. The charm of black and white bears has promoted friendship between China and foreign countries.

Loved by people all over the world, the adorable animals serve as envoys for China's goodwill of peace, friendship, openness, and inclusiveness.

When people think of giant pandas, a vivid symbol of China's soft power, they picture China as a peace-loving and friendly country.

China's growing soft power can also been seen in many other symbols and progress made in various fields, with more people worldwide enjoying the charm of Chinese culture.

The Chinese Lunar New Year, which focuses on reunion and togetherness, has become a highly anticipated annual event celebrated around the world.

Breakthroughs made in science and technology have won applause for China, injecting fresh energy to the world and bringing new opportunities to global industrial restructuring and sustainable development.

The country's sci-tech progress includes the world's first quantum computing machine, the country's first home-grown large passenger jet C919, and its first X-ray space telescope to study black holes, pulsars and gamma-ray bursts.

Businesses worldwide are paying attention to China's online payment solution Alipay, which can be used to pay for commodities and services in many places around the world.

As one of China's biggest online payment platforms, Alipay has already expanded to several markets such as the United States, the Republic of Korea, and Britain.

At the just concluded 2017 Summer Davos, the tides of China's sharing economy attracted a lot of attention, led by the dramatic growth of the bike-sharing industry.

Mobike, one of China's largest bike-sharing companies, launched its services in Britain's Manchester this week, after its rival ofo launched bikes in Cambridge earlier this year.
