Chen Tan is a college student who suffers from uremia. To save his life, his mother, Yao Yanzhi, decided to donate her own kidney to him. They stayed in a hotel nearby Anhui Provincial Hospital waiting for the transplant surgery on Dec. 8. After the surgery, which lasted over 10 hours, Yao's kidney was successfully transplanted into Chen's body.
