Born in Shaoxing, Zhejiang province, Bi was diagnosed with autism at the age of 3. He began to study painting at 9, and has gradually earned a reputation for his talent. He was praised by fellow artist Chen Danqing as “the Picasso of China,” and his works are often displayed domestically and abroad. A foundation named after Bi has been set up to train autistic children in the fine arts. (Photo/People’s Daily Online)
