Impregnable Jiayuguan Fortress

Located in Gansu province, Jiayuguan Fortress marks the western starting point of the Great Wall. Built in 1372, Jiayuguan is an especially significant and secure military fortress. It was also the transport hub of the Silk Road during the Ming Dynasty.
