Halfway through the Paralympics in Rio, China is sitting firmly at the top of the medal table with 147 medals.

They include 63 gold, 51 silver and 33 bronze.

The latest golds have come in shooting, table tennis, swimming and athletics.

Sprinter Hu Jianwen set a new world record in men's 100 meters on his way to clinching gold.

Hu beat previous record holder Evan O'Hanlon, upending his record by 5 one-hundredths of a second.

Britain sits second on the gold medal tally with 34.

The surprisingly strong Ukrainian squad in Rio now sits 3rd in the overall medal count at 72, including 27 gold.

This is well ahead of the 4th placed American squad, which has 21 gold and 60 Paralympic medals overall.
