Celebrity pup Uni-Chan beams with delight as she rides on swing

A video of a happy dog enjoying a swing in a children's playground and smiling broadly has become an unexpected viral sensation.

The clip of the female Shiba Inu, named Uni-Chan, enjoying her leisure time has won her a legion of fans on social media in her native Japan and was shared by People's Daily Online.

Six-year-old Uni-Chan is shown swinging very contentedly, sticking her tongue out and thoroughly enjoying the ride at the playground in Tokyo, the city she lives in with her owner Meme.

An Instagram account displaying pictures of the pup has accumulated more that 20,000 followers this year so far, and an accompanying blog charts Uni-Chan's daily adventures in the Japanese capital.

Other videos posted by Meme show the excitable dog relaxing on a see-saw, climbing a rope, wearing a straw hat and generally messing around with her best pal, a black poodle puppy called Halo.

Meme says she takes the dogs for two-to-three-hour walks every day, and says the pair are always drawn to the fun areas of the children's playground.

'I want people the world over to know about Uni-Chan and Halo,' she told MailOnline. 'Uni especially loves high places and playground fun.'

'I'm happy that the cuteness of Uni is being spread to unknown places, and that people are getting to know the personality and life of a happy Shiba.'

United: Uni and Halo often bundle themselves into the child's swing together for more fun.

Social media users quickly fell in love with the plucky pup, and the swing video soon went viral.

'What an adorable smile that is', wrote user Binendri Fernando on the People's Daily Facebook page.

'This is beautiful, I need one,' wrote Gul Andam, while Honeylyn Edradan said: 'So cute, she looks exactly like a kid when she's swinging.'

Blissful: Uni can't contain her joy at reaching the playground and enjoying all the rides.

The Shiba Inu breed of dog is hugely popular in Japan, and the pups often have internet users cooing with delight when their owners get them to do something cute.

Last June a Shiba Inu named Inuyama Shibao became an online sensation when his owner dressed him up to look like a news anchor, and pretended to let him read the TV news.

Meanwhile in 2014 it was reported a Shiba Inu living in New York was raking in a fortune in modelling contracts - earning its owners in excess of $15,000 every month.
