China expects G20 participants to solve economic issues

(CRI Online)    09:12, August 23, 2016

Chinese authorities are moving to set a tone of cooperation for the forthcoming G20 Leaders summit next month.

While previous G20 sessions have concluded with divides among its members, Lu Kang with the Chinese Foreign Ministry says the Chinese side wants to try to make this year's gathering inclusive.

"As the host of this year's G20 Summit, China hopes to work together with other participating countries to focus on the major and prominent problems facing the world economy, as well as promote the development of the G20 itself. We need to take steps to create a new growth dynamic through innovation and reforms aimed at stimulating strong, sustainable and balanced growth in the world economy," said Lu.

Global economic growth is going to be the focal point of this year's meeting.

Lu Kang says while China's economic growth may be slowing down, he says the Chinese blueprint for the future remains sound.

"The thirteenth Five-Year Plan has focused on development concepts such as 'innovation, coordination, greenness, openness and sharing.' With these concepts put into practice, China's economy will embrace a brighter future, enjoying a moderate-speed of growth for a long time to come. This will definitely bring more opportunities to various countries in the world," said Lu.

This year's G20 Summit in Hangzhou will take place on September 4th and 5th.
