It takes about one month to transform the special paper made mainly from cotton into real notes at the company, a subsidiary of China Banknote Printing and Minting Corp. (CBPM). The company before had more than 500 specialized employees to check the quality of banknotes, but the use of automated machines today has reduced the number by half.
