On the sideline of Summer Davos in Tianjin, a sub-forum was held focusing on the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank.
AIIB President Jin Liqun has said the number of members in the bank will rise significantly from the current 57.
"We're having almost 30 countries waiting to join this bank and their memberships will be resolved later this year. Starting from next year, there will be new members of the AIIB. By that time, we'll probably have almost 90 members."
The president pledged that the bank will not limit its help to those countries only along the Silk Road economic belt.
"At the AIIB, we support those countries which are not along the One Belt One Road, because regional cooperation and global cooperation benefit everybody. A rising tide lifts all boats. We should share the benefits. We should share the interests in this little village on Earth."
Last week, the China-backed bank approved its first four deals worth over 500 million US dollars to cover projects in Bangladesh, Indonesia, Pakistan and Tajikistan.
Nepal is seeking support from the bank for five of its infrastructure projects.
