Police capture armed drug traffickers who kidnapped five hostages

Police in Deyang, Sichuan province, successfully captured two armed women suspected of drug manufacturing and trafficking and rescued five hostages on June 20.

At around 5 p.m. on June 20, police decided to arrest the two armed suspects but they resisted to be arrested and kidnapped five hostages including two women and three children. 

Police waited for reinforcements while they kept trying to persuade the two women to give up.

After having a standoff for about one hour, the door opened, but the suspects and the hostages were wrapped with a sheet and covered by a carpet. Police did not act hastily.

At 6:40 p.m., the suspects and the kidnapped hostages went out into the neighborhood, but only did so to come into contact with heavily armed police.

"Suddenly two shots were fired and two bullet shells were left on the ground. The gangster was firing the gun to demonstrate to the police," according to a witness.

The suspects and hostages kept moving forward yet they were gradually surrounded by the police.

At about 6:50 p.m., a special police officer with a shield quickly got close to the suspects and hostages from one side of the intersection and rushed to them when another officer also rushed to them from the front side. Then the carpet of the suspects and hostages slipped off and the suspects were captured by the police.
