Han Bo, a 43-year-old farmer from Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, won much honor after he applied several patents related to the modification of the US-made cotton-picker. He bought the first picker in the region.
Though he has only graduated from high school, Han likes to retrofit agricultural implementations. When he purchased the US-made cotton picker, Han noticed there is no extinguishment devices equipped on the machine.

Given that cotton is highly flammable and usually harvested in dry autumn season, Han deems paired fire-fighting equipment indispensable. So he developed a fire-extinguishing system for the picker truck on his own. Now every cotton-picking machine in the region is equipped with Han’s system.
Besides the “safety valve” for cotton-picking, Han also developed many other technologies that have significantly improved the efficiency for agricultural practices. Currently, another four of his inventions are patent pending.
Staff from Han's company gives instructions to farmers in Sudan.
His work has reached northern Sudan. Thanks to his machine and technology, the large area of farmlands in the region now can be better attended.
Han has been invited by a US company to study precision agriculture systems this July to optimize agricultural input while protecting the ecological environment and land resources.
“My goal is not to achieve the highest output, but to make an impact with minimal cost,” said Han.
