Four China's coast guard vessels patrolled the country's territorial waters surrounding the Diaoyu Islands but the fleet was warned and thwarted by Japan, according to a report on Huanqiu.com.
Kyodo News reported that patrol ships from the Japan Coast Guard confirmed that four of China's coast guard vessels entered waters within 12 nautical miles surrounding the Diaoyu Islands at around 9 a.m. on May 30. Japan said that this is the 14th time in 2016 that China's public service vessels entered relevant waters around the Diaoyu Islands.
The four coast guard vessels were Haijing 2115, Haijing 2307, Haijing 2401 and Haijing 31239, according to the 11th Regional Coast Guard Headquarters in Naha. The headquarters said that the Haijing 31239 is likely to be equipped with machine cannons.
Information on official website of the State Oceanic Administration released on May 30 confirmed that China's Coast Guard vessels mentioned above patrolled in territorial waters around the Diaoyu Islands.
