The image of the clown has always been controversial — some people think it is a symbol of joy, some, however, are very much scared of clowns. The people in Jining definitely belong to the latter group.

Recently citizens living in Wanda apartments in Jining, of east China’s Shandong province had reported several cases of men dressed in scary clown costumes performing bloody pranks on residents. Many of the residents living in this area had been scared by the two clowns and people are even afraid to leave their houses alone.

After investigation, it was learned that these two men had opened a WeChat public account, and uploaded their prank videos online, claiming their activities are a way to pay their respects to the DmPranksProduction group from the United States.

In their videos, the two clowns usually hide in parking lot or elevators. When they see people coming near, they start to saw or stab the prepared dummy, with fake blood spattering all over the place. People got scared and ran away screaming, some even burst into tears. Many netizens have left comments on their videos, concerned that these scary deeds could be a real hazard to pregnant women or people with heart disease.

Police have tried to contact the “clowns” but have failed. The only conversation police had with them was with a door preventing their direct face to face contact and instead of communicating, the “clowns” only responded with ghastly laughs.
