Another Earth: Stunning photos capture Australia's other-worldly 'Ice Cream Dunes' where the sand is so pale it looks like snow

These breath-taking vistas look like they are part of an arctic tundra, but are sweltering to see in real life.

Jordan Cantelo, 31, from Perth, Australia, found the sand dunes outside of a coastal town of Lancelin, where they run for almost 50 miles.

In fact, the sandy hillocks are so deceptive, they are nicknamed the 'Ice Cream Dunes' and can reach up to 98ft in height. And, while the ocean is only a couple of hundred meters away, Jordan claimed that it was easy to forget he was on the coast and even felt like he was wandering through the surreal landscape of another planet.

Jordan said: 'The dunes look like they're covered in snow, but actually it's because the sand is so pale. It's much hotter than the pictures would have you believe. It's surreal to walk through the sand dunes, as it is so silent and you can almost lose yourself in the idea that you are on another world.

'Most of the time you can walk around and not see anybody else, let alone realise that the sea is still so close by. Walking over the dunes is very satisfying and it instantly makes you feel more relaxed.

'I have a passion for being out and about in nature and where I have grown up is arguably one of the most beautiful places in the world.'
