Emergency evacuation in highrise buildings have always been a worldly acknowledged problem, but a man in east China’s city of Shanghai has come a big step closer to solving it.
A 70-something Shanghai man named Zhou Miaorong invented the special evacuation slide that can be used in apartments for emergency escape. Made from aluminum, the tube-like slide would allow descending one story in two or three seconds. And for a 26-story building, it only takes 90 seconds for people to escape. Besides, the slide can accommodate nearly a hundred people at one time.

Mr. Zhou has been awarded by National Natural Science Foundation of China and Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development of China for the smart invention.
