Leaders from six countries along the Lancang-Mekong River convened in Sanya, a city in Hainan province, southern China, on Wednesday to discuss future cooperation.
A cooperation agreement among the six countries has been officially established.
Chinese Premier Li Keqiang, along with the five leaders of the Lancang-Mekong River countries, on Wednesday visited an exhibition highlighting cooperation between their respective countries. Premier Li also presented hybrid rice to the leaders of the five countries, to encourage the development of Chinese hybrid rice across the region. The presentation was made during a briefing by academic Yuan Longping at the exhibition booth of the China National Hybrid Rice Research Center.
