Dukezong town in Shangri-la, Yunnan province has re-opened to visitors on the first day of this year after a blaze destroyed most of it in January 2014.

Dukezong, which literally means “Moonlight city” in Tibetan language, has a history of 1,300 years. It was once an important landmark on the South Silk Road, known for its Tibetan culture.

With the orderly reconstruction work being carried out, the "Moonlight City" is regaining its vitality on the ruins. Residents and businesses have struggled to recover from the disaster. (Photo/Xinhua)
