Guigang police announced on Tuesday that officers had uncovered a firearms manufacturing gang and seized five guns, 3,682 bullets, a firearm machine tool and some additional firearm materials. Eight suspects have been arrested.
The police in Daxin, a town in Guigang, received a call in January saying that a villager named Liang was producing and selling firearms from his home. He often shot through the window to test his guns.
The police soon discovered an illegal firearms manufacturing and trafficking gang. They arrested and jailed Liang, along with seven other suspects.
In the morning on Jan. 26, Guigang police carried out the arrests. Since Liang had firearms and possibly explosives in his home, there were detailed and thorough procedures in place to ensure that no one got hurt.
At 4 a.m., police began the raid. Liang, hearing movement in the bedroom, was about to get up when he was instead apprehended and restrained in bed. Police found a homemade pistol under his pillow. Another pistol, nine shell casings, 363 nail shooting pills, some spare gun parts and firearm manufacturing tools were also found in his home. Another seven suspects were brought in that day.
