Electric Car Targets 372mph to Set World Record this Summer

(People's Daily Online)    06:34, March 09, 2016

How fast is the fastest electric car? The new generation Venturi Buckeye Bullet 3 (VBB3) targets to reach 372 miles per hour (599 kilometers per hour) this summer, which will set world record for electric cars.

Cooperating with Center for Automotive Research from Ohio State University, the engineers from Venturi are still aiming at a 307 miles per hour (644 kilometers per hour) maximum speed. Its long, thin and aerodynamic shape gives it edge over traditional cars, making it unencumbered by the draggy intakes required to feed air-breathing engines.

The highest speed on land is now kept by jet-powered vehicle, which can reach 763.035 miles per hour (1228 kilometers per hour).
