BEIJING, March 4 -- The State Council, China's Cabinet, appointed Ning Jizhe as the new head of the National Bureau of Statistics on Friday, replacing Wang Baoan who is investigated for corruption.
The top anti-graft body of the Communist Party of China announced an investigation into Wang for "severe disciplinary violation" in January.
Born in December 1956, Ning also serves as deputy head of the National Development and Reform Commission.
The State Council also appointed Yin Chengji as deputy director of the State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs.
Xu Shiping was removed from the post of deputy head of the State Archives Administration, Wang Zhongtian from the post of the deputy director of the Office of the South-to-North Water Diversion Project Construction Committee.
