Upon the arrival of China’s annual “two sessions”, a series of new notions, new ideas and new strategies regarding governance and administration put forward by Chinese leaders in the last three years have drawn wide attention from the Chinese media.
The two sessions, referring as the annual session of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), the country’s top national advisory body, and the meeting of the National People's Congress (NPC), the top legislative body, will begin on March 3 and 5 respectively.
Since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC), the CPC Central Committee, with Xi Jinping as General Secretary, has launched a series of new practices, explorations and innovations.
It, for example, mapped out the four-comprehensive blueprint for China's future development, along with five development notions, namely innovative, coordinated, green, open and shared development.
People’s Daily and Xinhua News Agency, two major Chinese news services, began to release columns as early as January, examining the results of the new governance practices.
An article on China’s efforts to crack down on corruption, after being published by People’s Daily on its front page, received much attention.
The media also gave insightful and in-depth interpretation and analysis of these strategies to clue in the general public. Thanks to the wide coverage of the media ahead of the two sessions, the public come to have a better understanding of China’s development achievements and future course.
Some people believe that these reports invigorated the social confidence and injected positive energy to national development.
“The CPC is both capable of and confident in dealing with its internal matters,” Yuan Kui, a cadre in Xifeng county, China’s Southwest Guizhou Province said after reading the People’s Daily.
News from the China Central Television (CCTV) suggest that China’s high-end equipment industry, including high-speed railway, nuclear power, wide-body aircraft, gained global recognition in 2015.
Those from both China and the rest of the world believe that the new notions, new ideas and new strategies proposed by Chinese government will bring the country greater changes.
China’s governance is also a hot topic in the international community, proven by the popularity of Xi Jinping: the Governance of China, a compilation of the leader’s major works.
Launched in 2014 at the Frankfurt Book Fair, the book is now sold in more than 100 countries and regions with 5.37 million copies, the best selling book by a Chinese leader since the implementation of the reform and opening-up policy.
