Zhejiang University of Finance & Economics recently set up an elite class for female freshman and sophomore students, aimed at training female students to be independent, confident young women, who can serve as models for the whole campus.

According to Gao Weiqin, the director of the employment guidance office, good manners and inner beauty play an important role in job interviews. Many students lose out on excellent opportunities due to poor communication skills and manners. The male to female ratio at Zhejiang University of Finance & Economics is 1:3. With so many female students at the school, the training class is deemed even more necessary.

The “fair lady” training class groups students into four categories: girls with great academic performance, girls with specific talents, girls who are interested in public welfare, and girls with business start-up ideas. Students get targeted training based on their categories and characteristics. The class lasts for a whole year, covering basic courses and social practice.

Through independent learning, the training course itself, social practice and cultural exchange, students in the class are comprehensively trained in their overall manners. Public speaking, as well as the use of PowerPoint and Excel, are all taught in order to increase students’ confidence and ability for future job opportunities.
