A heartbreaking scene was seen in Qionglai, southwest China's Sichuan province on Feb. 15, 2016 when 7-year-old Fengfeng bade farewell to his mother who was going back to work in Chengdu after the Spring Festival.
Zhi, 40, is a courier working in Chengdu. Her son Fengfeng is raised by his grandparents in hometown. Fengfeng keeps crying and asking to go with his mother to Chengdu.
Fengfeng tries to hold his mother's hands and keeps saying: "You can't treat me like this."
Zhi said that during the holiday, Fengfeng followed her everywhere and refused to go out to play with other children in village. He asked his mother to hold him tightly even when he slept. Zhi was divorced. She has two children. The elder girl is reading high school. She has to work in the city to finance the life of the children.
"If I take him to Chengdu, I can't take care of him alone," Zhi said. According to a survey, the number of China's rural left-behind children has reached more than 61 million. Fengfeng is only one of them.(Photo/Wccdaily)
